About

Every Map Has an Origin Story. Here’s Ours.

It started the way most good things do — not with a business plan, but with a gift for a friend.

Back in 2017, we were a couple of designers with a shared obsession: turning meaningful places into something beautiful you could hang on a wall. We made our first custom map as a housewarming gift for close friends who had just moved into their first home together. They loved it. Their friends asked where they got it. Then their friends asked. And before we knew it, what started as a creative side project had quietly become something much bigger.

From Etsy to Here

We opened our Etsy shop in 2017 and spent years pouring everything we had into it — every map made with care, every order packed personally, every message answered with genuine enthusiasm. Over 10,000 happy customers and a 5-star Star Seller badge later, we realized it was time to grow into something we could truly call our own.

That’s why we built Map of Our Story — our own home, on our own terms. Same passion, same quality, same two people behind every design. Just more room to do what we love the way we’ve always wanted to do it.

The People Behind the Maps

We’re a couple, and we’re both designers by training and by heart. Design isn’t just what we do for work — it’s how we see the world. We notice the way light falls on a city grid, the way a neighborhood tells a story through its streets, the way a single address can hold an entire chapter of someone’s life.

That perspective goes into every map we create. We don’t think of what we do as printing — we think of it as translating a memory into something you can see and hold and pass down.

What Drives Us

We’ve read thousands of customer messages over the years. The one that still gets us every time? When someone tells us they cried when they opened their package. Not because anything went wrong — but because seeing their story mapped out in front of them made it real in a way they didn’t expect.

That’s the whole point. That’s why we show up every day.

A Few Things We Believe

  • A gift that means something will always outlast a gift that just looks nice
  • The address of your first home deserves to be on a wall, not just in a memory
  • Great design should feel effortless for the person receiving it, even when it wasn’t for the person making it

We’re so glad you found us — whether you’re here for a housewarming gift, a closing gift, an anniversary, or something only you know the story behind.
